Pacific Rim (2013)
Review:
I give this one 5 tickets. Now this is a summer Blockbuster. I had the honor to see this in a Pre-showing in IMAX 3D last night.
It has got everything you need for a good movie,
Monsters - check
Robots - check
Story - check
great actors - check
fast pace and kick ass parts where you are on the edge of your seat - check
The movie starts out with a overview of the start of the war with monsters called Kaiju. The frist one shows up and pretty much destorys everything in its path untill finally the tanks and airplanes take it down. Time goes by and another one comes. Then another one. We finally get to the point where we come together as a race and with the worlds resources a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers. They are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge, which they call drifting. Kaiju start getting smarter and now even the Jaegers are getting knocked out.
Thats now where we are Raleigh Becket played by Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) and brother Yancy Becket played shortly by Diego Klattenhoff are called to fight a level 4 Kaiju that rips out and kills Yancy.
we see the Jaeger program get shut down and a wall gets built as a safty zone from the Kaiju, untill one tears it apart like it was butter and a Jaeger polited by Chuck Hansen played by Robert Kazinsky and his father Herc Hansen played by Max Martini are called to take it down.
Now Raleigh Becket working on the wall, after seeing this last attack on tv is rerecuited by Stacker Pentecost played by Idris Elba (who does a great job in his role) to rejoin the team with a new co-pilot.
Now in Hong Kong as the resistance they come up with a plan to shut down the gate way from the protal that the Kaiju use to enter our world. Are other attacks with nukes to close it never worked, so with a Jaeger they strap a nuke to set off and plan on trying to enter the portal and set off the nuke to close the protal.
Now I am not going to go and give everything away. (ya, ya I know bummer) so this is where i will stop. It is a great movie and well worth the money to see in IMAX and in 3D. All i got left to say is
You will Enjoy the Show!

The Lone Ranger (2013)
Review:
I give it 5 tickets.
A very good reboot to an old Western. Johnny Depp does a flawless job as Tonto. We start the movie with a kid in 1933 in San Francisco, at a fair, going into a Wild West exhibit and as he comes to the Indian which we see Tonto as an old man standing there looking like a wax person. The kid looks closer and we see Tonto come alive and start to tell the story of The Lone Ranger to the kid.
He starts the story by telling the kid that Himself and The Lone Ranger robbing a bank. Then the kid interrupts Tonto saying The Lone Ranger was a good guy. That’s where we start to see the building of the train line and all the rangers waiting for the bad guy Butch Cavendish and Tonto chained inside a train. Butch Cavendish with the help of others gets away.
John Reid not yet a ranger is the younger brother of Dan Reid the main Ranger. As they go after Butch Dan deputizes John as a ranger and not long after we watch as all the rangers are ambushed and killed. John Reid see things before he awakes and Tonto who is burying them tells him he is a spirit walker.
Then comes the chasing of Butch, and the story picks up, and moves very well. I do not want to give away to much of the story but it was very well writing and the actors played there parts well. There where many times I laughed hard and times I was at the edge of my sit. This (I hope) brings back the Western’s back to the screen.
Enjoy the Show!

World War Z (2013)
Review:
I give this 4 tickets. Being a HUGE Zombie fan, I liked this one. Although it does not follow the book at all, It is still a well made zombie film. The way the show how they change into Zombies is very cool. They CGI was a little over done and the Zombies climbing on top of each other to scale the walls is a little over stretched. The action when they are fighting the zombies are very good scenes. Brad Pitt does a very good job with the part and am very happy with his acting in it. I wish they would have sticked to the original book, but am happy with a fast pace zombie movie. I know they went this way for they want to make more WWZ movies and the ending clearly states this out. I am very much looking forward to it and hope Brad Pitt stays for the next movie.
Enjoy the Show!

The Purge (2013)
Review:
I give it 4 maybe 4 and 1/2 out of 5 tickets. It was well done and well written. Ethan Hawke's character is a little bit of a prick at first but he does redeem himself quickly. There are a few plot holes and not alot of back story on the characters put for the type of movie this is it is not really needed and I think would have made the movie to long and boring. I recommend this movie for people who like movies like The Hunger Games, Battle Royale, Straw Dogs, and movies along those lines. I will not say anymore for I will not give out details about the movie that will spoil it for you. All I will say is this, I love the premise of this movie and will hope a Sequel will be made.
Survive the night and Enjoy the show.

After Earth (2013)
Review:
Not a bad movie, not a great movie. I give it 3 Tickets. Jaden Smith's voice is a bit whinny but once you get past that his acting is not all that bad. Will Smith does a flawless job in his acting in this movie regardless of what any other critics say. He played the part of a father who is watching his son trying to become a man and a soldier just like himself. What Will Smith brings to this movie is a Father who has not been around much and is now trying to make up for it, and is not sure how to. Now onto M.Night Shyamalan, He needs to stop being a director and just write. He has great stories but I think he cannot direct anymore. This movie would have been a Great movie had he handed it off like he did with Devil. It's still a good movie but I would wait till it comes out on Redbox or VOD.
Enjoy the Show!

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Review:
J.J. Abrams Did a fantastic job on this one. He out did himself and made this a GREAT Star Trek movie. The actor's made this movie so good that I had to see it more than once. The action was flawless with a lot of battles and not a dull moment at all. Spock has some of the greatest lines in the movie, and the only one who out shines him, IMO, is Simon Pegg as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott. He does such a great job as Scotty and has some of the best parts. This is a MUST see for all Trkkies and non-Trkkies alike.
I cannot wait to see (hopefully) what J.J. Abrams does next with it, if he keeps with it.
Also can not wait to see how he works with Star Wars.
Enjoy the Show!

MAMA (2013)
Review:
I give it 2 1/2 Tickets.
The story was not as good as I was hoping for. MAMA was nothing more than a ghost story and how the ghost called MAMA wanted it's baby back. It wasn't very scary at all and all the parts where you see MAMA is laughable. I expected a lot better from the Creators of Pan's Labyrinth. The only thing that kept me watching was to see if MAMA killed anyone. The moths where kind of strange and I don't see the need for them other than to tell you that MAMA is near. The little girls running around like cats was well done. Megan Charpentier who plays Victoria did a great job. I look forward to seeing her in more movies and hope she does a few more horror. The look in her eyes when she is angry or mad was very creepy and about the only thing creepy in the movie. The tag line A Mother's Love is Forever does nothing for the movie. Jessica Chastain's acting was great and she had a very strong presence within the film. Other than those the movie isn't all that good and I was hoping for so much more.
Enjoy if you can.
